Version: Pidgin 2.5.2
"AVOID PIDGIN...AT ALL COSTS!!"
Pros: NONE! Not a single one!
Cons: Arrogant developer team, treat users poorly
Summary: Avoid this program like the plague!!
Almost ONE YEAR ago, I submitted a ticket to the developers at Pidgin, and NOW, just NOW, nearly 12 months later, they are getting back to me about the bugs I reported! I dumped Pidgin 3 months after installing it for patiently waiting for them to even tell me that they were working on the problems I reported. The developer team is ARROGANT and HAUGHTY, to say the least. When the developer assigned to my case emailed, I replied and told him that they had taken way too long to respond to me - almost a year!! The response given to me by Luke Schiere, one of the developers, was: "But honestly, I don't care which client you use." He then closed the ticket and the reason it put on the ticket was: "works for me" - referring to me telling him that I switched to another chat client for them taking so long. Arrogance runs rampant at Pidgin. Who would want to use a piece of software where you have programmers who just don't care about trying to promote their products. These people at Pidgin don't care to offer good customer service or promote good customer relations. They don't care ONE IOTA.
Trust me...AVOID Pidgin and avoid the problems. Go with Miranda, which is also free. Better yet, go with Trillian. Now THEY know how to give some half decent customer service, and without the attitude.
