Version: Pidgin 2.5.2
"AVOID PIDGIN...AT ALL COSTS!!"
Pros: NONE! Not a single one!
Cons: Arrogant developer team, treat users poorly
Summary: Avoid this program like the plague!! Almost ONE YEAR ago, I submitted a ticket to the developers at Pidgin, and NOW, just NOW, nearly 12 months later, they are getting back to me about the bugs I reported! I dumped Pidgin 3 months after installing it... read more

Version: Pidgin 2.5.2
Pros: Seems to have the smallest memory footprint of all the programs like this that I've tried.
Cons: When you log out of a chat room, you can't just choose to re-enter it later. You have to go through the whole process of connecting to the chat room again. This is annoying if you always use the same chat room.

"I like this program and can never let go of it."
Pros: It has a very nice interface, customizable interface too (you can hide or view buddy details and icons), it opens quickly, it has tabs in the windows and you can change the positions of the tabs, it works with multiple IM protocols.
Cons: Eh.. constantly updating with more bugs, more fixes, more useless updates.
Summary: I really love this program, I've used it since GAIM and found it when I first used Linux (Ubuntu) about two years ago. I like the interface, and I like the icons, they are very shiny and simple. I like everything about it except for these few things:... read more
